UK Experienced Slowdown in Q3 Despite Rugby World Cup

Global turbulence over the summer months (namely stemming from China) and relative strength in the currency dampened UK exports during Q3. In contrast, domestic demand was lifted by an uptick in spending during the Rugby World Cup and should continue to offer support as we approach the Christmas season. In terms of inflation, its current weak trend has cast doubt over how quickly it will converge to the government set target of 2.0% over the next two years.
